A Foundation and Powder in one!

Our favorite compact is Rice Powder Dual Wet N Dry. This means you can use it as a foundtaion and powder! It lasts all day, and doesn't look cakey, which is one of my pet peeves when it comes to foundations. It goes for about $10 at Sally Beauty Supply, or you can buy it directly here: http://www.makeup-product.com/rice-dry-foundation.htm

We've tried all kinds of other brands of compacts from Cover Girl to Clinique to Chanel, and we always end up going back to this! Here's the 'how to' from the site above.

How to use: Use it wet or dry with the sponge provided.
  • Use wet for maximum coverage: Wet sponge with water for oily skin or your favorite moisturizer for dry skin and apply all over face and neck for maximum all day coverage.
  • Use dry for very fine coverage: Apply dry with sponge for a sheer natural smooth look.

Let us know if you try it! And if you have another compact you swear by, please let us know in the comments below!

Til next time, XOXO C&H

My first set of hair extensions!

So I tried hair extensions, and WOW, I love them! I got my set at proextensions.com and they overnight them for free! I'm still learning how to make them look more natural with my own hair, but the first test run was nice. I got the 14" in chocolate brown, and didn't think they'd be as long as they are, but I'm happy with that. :) These extensions come with the hair pre-clipped, so all I had to do was clip them in. They were surprisingly easy. The extensions are 100% real human hair, and are waaay silky. I really am happy I ended up buying them. I will be posting my video blog of them in the next week or so, and will link that video on this site. Just thought I'd give you guys a little preview! Let us know if you have any questions!

Fellow blondes or if you're thinking of going blonde...This one is for you!

Hey sisters! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I (Heather) am writing Today to tell you about my journey from being a brunette to the drastically different shade I am now, platinum blonde. If you're like us, you love to change your hair on a whim or add some type of flare to your do'. I had always wanted to be blonde and one day had the courage to just go to the beauty store and buy hair bleach and a bottle of blonde hair dye. I did not think that it would take as long to get to platinum which is what I was going for. The first time I bleach and dyed my locks, it turned out orange-ish.
I decided to keep it that way for about a week to allow my hair time to rest before adding more chemical to it. I did not mind it so much, but definitely was excited to get the platinum shade I was going for. After another session of bleaching, I was exactly where I wanted to be!
Now with my new hair came new hair drama! Split ends, dry and damaged, no longer silky hair. I never knew how much upkeep I would have to do to try and keep my hair healthy. That's when I started experimenting with differnt hair products. I've tried every type of hot oil and deep conditioner imaginable. I want to share with you a few of my favorite products to keep your newly bleached or dyed hair as healthy as possible.

My #1 rule-Do a hot oil treatment 2 days after each color treatment. My top 2 favorite products to use include olive oil and jojoba oil. You can find single tubes at most beauty stores for under $2.00! Trust me, it does a wonderful job of reviving your hair in the days following a fresh color treatment.
My #2 rule-Use a specialized color treated shampoo and conditioner for about a week or so after any bleach or dye job. Personally, I only do it for about a week after I touch up my roots, then I go back to my regular favorite shampoo or conditioner Herbal Essences. My favorite Shampoo/conditioner for specialty treated colored hair is Quantum 1 Moisturzing Shampoo for Permed and Color Treated hair. It moisturizes my hair and gives it that natural softness that is hard to obtain when adding any chemicals to your hair.

My rule #3-Always use some type of silk protection spray or polish when using any hair appliance, such as blowdyers, straighteners, or curling irons. It helps add moisture to your hair when heat is applied to it and leaves it looking silky and smooth! My favorite is Biosilk!
If you have any questions, or comments about going blonde, or can offer some other great products for blondes, please feel free to post them below! Thanks for reading! XoXo, C&H

Dry, dull, brittle hair? I have your cure! Joico K-Pak Reconstructor

Hey everyone! Hope you had a great super bowl weekend. We wanted to let you know about this great product we use. If you're like us - blow drying, straightening, curling - basically doing any damage to your hair, then we recommend Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor. It's about $15 for the small bottle, and you use it once a week. I (Carrie) started using Joico Shampoo & Conditioner and the reconstructor came with it in a 3 pack. My hair was SO dry and breaking like crazy. It's been a couple of weeks (3 treatmens of the reconstructor so far), and I can honestly say my hair has done a 180! Of course i still have the breakage (t can't be fixed over night), however my hair is shiny, strong, and though not completely healthy, it looks like it! I can't put into words how happy I am with this product. One thing to remember is this is not a replacement for conditioner. You want to use it after shampooing, and leave on for five minutes. After that, use your conditioner as normal. Some people are put off by it's scent. I'd describe it as having a hint of cinnamon. It really doesn't bother me at all. If anyone tries it out, let me know how it works out for you! It's available at salons and the beauty supply store. You can also find it online. Until next time! XoXo, C&H

E.L.F. Smoky Eye Kit

Both of us received this item as a gift for our Birthdays last year (Yes we have the same birthday!), and we LOVE it. Especially when we realized it was only $5! E.L.F. (eyes, lips, face) is sold at Target. And all their cosmetics are super cheap! We've used their lashes, mascara, and this kit. The best part of the Smoky Eye Kit? It actually has directions on how to make your eyes smoky! The shadows last long, and are really pretty. Check them out next time you're shopping for new makeup!
